Job Summary:

The Creative Copy Lead is responsible for developing highly creative concepts and elevate our creative copy offering across a wide range of deliverables. The Creative Copy Lead is the lead writer for one or more major accounts and should form close working relationships with clients, thought leaders and internal agency teams and be recognised as an expert by these parties.

Managing direct report(s) and freelance writers, the Creative Lead mentors, develops and leads the copy team to do ‘unexpected work’ (UW) that will delight the client. You play a crucial role in partnering as a team with Writers, Art Directors, Designers and Motion to deliver work that is on-brief, on-brand and respects messaging while pushing the creative.

Position Requirements:

To consistently ensure the delivery of ‘unexpected work’ (UW)

  • Prior healthcare experience is essential 
  • Delights the client by proactively offering ideas to enhance the creative brief
  • Establish copy tone and style of concepts and communications
  • Confidently presents ideas
  • Challenge ideas to consistently deliver ‘unexpected work’ (UW)
  • Interested to continue learning and always considers innovative ideas
  • Provide strategic input into the creative brief and inspiration into the creative solution proactively offering ideas
  • Delivers high quality content for a range of healthcare communication materials
  • Has a strong attention to detail, creating error-free and considered work that meets the brief
  • Manages direct report(s) to ensure the quality of their work, their continued development and enable their success through mentoring and leadership
  • Supports talent team with recruitment and retention of high-quality team members
  • Follows agency process for line management, with regular 121s and constructive feedback and objectives
  • Demonstrates teamwork at all times
  • Inspire and lead direct copywriter report(s) to develop highly compelling copy
  • Taking an active part in client meetings as required
  • Prioritizing work with the Associate/Creative Director(s) and Traffic Manager to ensure effective scheduling and budgeting of projects
  • Partner with Planners and the Account team to provide clients with accurate estimates, budgets and timelines
  • Always follows the Agency Standard Operating Procedure, including adhering to project workflows, WorkFront reviews, and utilization of standard copy templates across projects
  • Ensures a full understanding of what is required before starting work, asking questions and challenging team members where necessary
  • Aims to complete work within scope and flags any concerns to the Associate Creative Director well ahead of delivery
  • Demonstrates passion for healthcare writing and communicate this enthusiasm to others
  • Edit and proofread own text and that written by other team members, providing constructive
  • feedback to constantly improve quality
  • Leads discussions relating to assigned accounts / projects at both a tactical and strategic level with clients, thought leaders and internal colleagues
  • Has a collaborative spirit, reaching creative solutions that balance input and expertise from team members

  • Understands the client (and the facts and context surrounding them), the product facts, the legal liability (what we can/can’t say in communication); and the competitive landscape
  • Builds client confidence by demonstrating an ability to consistently deliver work that meets client expectations
  • Understands how each assignment fits into the brand scope, why an idea is right, and meets the clients objectives
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity beyond client ideas in brainstorm sessions/when developing campaigns/programmes
  • Has thorough knowledge and understanding of agency processes and the time required to complete each stage
  • Acts as an advocate and supporter of DDB Remedy in all interactions with the client or external suppliers
  • Collaborate with Client Services to take responsibility for the development of plans for assigned accounts to help maximise opportunities for account development
  • Proactively seeks and pursues new opportunities within accounts

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Has a solid understanding of their clients business, brands and category
  • Solid understanding of creative team disciplines and how to work together with the team to deliver high-quality, considered work
  • Motivated to always continue learning and sharing knowledge
  • Presents work confidently, professionally and persuasively to colleagues and clients
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills both in preparing materials required and in delivery
  • Keeps CPD record up-to-date
